Sundara Murthy swamigal describes this Lord as "Maalai Mathiye Malai mel Marundhe" .Legend says that when Aswini Devas were in search of medicinal herbs in this mountain, Lord shiva and Godddess helped them show herbs,hence the name "Irun neekithayar" and Maruntheeswarar. So it is believed that worshipping Lord here will solve problems with their health.

Legend says that Lord Narayana had worshipped Lord Shiva in the form of tortoise (kachapa) in this place.Hence the name kachur and Lord shiva was named as Kachepeswarar.
Lord shiva himself came as a Brahmin in disguise and fetched food and gave it to Sundarar who was very hungry when he came to this temple.Lord was named as "Virunditta

Iswarar" --- seen as Lingam in outer praharam.So it is believed that worshipping Lord here will solve problems with food in their home
