This week’s Podcast is about “Arulmigu Naganathar Alayam,Thirunageswaram The sthalam of Rahu is Thirunageswaram, which is located 6 kms from Kumbakonam, enroute to Karaikal. The presiding deities are Naaganaadar and Girigujaambigai. He faces the South-West direction. The Adi Devatha is Durga and the Prathyathi Devatha is the snake. The king of the nagas, Rahu prayed to Lord Siva and hence this place got the name Thirunageswaram. Here Rahu Bhagavan has manifested with both his consorts. At this sthala, the colour of milk changes from white to blue during Abhishekam. On 16.2.86, a snake had shed off its outer skin on Rahu Bhagavan, which is preserved and worshipped to date.

Rahu is the source of plenty. Kalathra dosham, puthira dosham, communicable diseases, mental disorders, leprosy, fall in grace are caused by Rahu dosham. Praying to Rahu at this sthala helps rid a person from these factors and also saves the person from all poisonous life forms. Sundays are very auspicious and devotees perform milk abhishekam to Rahu, who is enshrined with His consorts. A noteworthy feature is that the milk turns blue. A dip in Soola Theertha is said to cure one of diseases and give prosperity.

He is the Lord of Maharam and Kumba Rasis and faces the West direction. The Adi Devatha is Yaman and the Prathyathi Devatha is Prajapathi.

The moolavar of Dharbarenyeswarar is Swayambu Lingam. The place was originally a forest of Dharba grass and it is stated that the Lingam even now has impressions left by the Dharba weeds within which it was situated. The Lord here is also known as "ADHIMOORTHY or NALLARAR". The great Saivite saints Thirugnanasambhandar, Sundaramurthy Swamigal, Thirunavukkarasar and Arunagirinadhar have worshipped at this shrine and sung about the glory of the Lord. "PACHAI PADHIGAM" sung by the great saint Thirugnanasambhandar is very famous one.

Saneeswaran is reputed to be both, a giver and a destroyer. A person who prays to Saneeswaran regularly will be blessed with not only riddance from the problems and worries faced, but a life that one desires.

Saturn is the planet of responsibility, and symbolizes the ethic of hard work. Under its influence a person's character is strengthened through trial and difficulty. It has been said that Saturn disciplines us until we can learn to discipline ourselves. In astrology Saturn is the planet of diligence, self-control and limitation. Its domain is patience, stability, maturity and realism. Its influence is stern and restrictive, cold and severe.

It is situated at a distance of 2 Kms to the east from Sooriyanayanar Kovil. From Mayiladuthurai it is located at a distance of about 20 Kms. Bus facilities are available from Kumbakonam and Mayiladuthurai. This Shivasthalam is also one of the Navagraha Sthalam and is associated with Sukran (Venus).

The presiding deity Agneeswarar is the embodiment of Sukran. Sukrachariar was the Guru of asuras. He had got the blessings from Lord Siva after severe penances.
Sukracharyar has the prowess to bring the dead to living by virtue of his knowledge of Amirtha Sanjeevini Mantra. Using this mantra, in the asura war against the devas, he revived the slain asuras. This helped the asura army swell. The devas prayed to Lord Siva for help, who swallowed up Sukracharya in a fit of rage. After residing in Lord SIva's stomach in a siddha state, he emerged from Lord Siva's stomach.

Sukra endows those who pray to him with wealth, pleasure, wife, prosperity, vehicles. He is the next most beneficial planet after Guru. If in a person's horoscope, Sukra is well placed, then the person will enjoy pleasure, beautiful wife, wealth, house, vehicle, good food, fame, love, affection, marraige, siblings, governmental help, chance to govern the country/state and hold influential status.

This week’s Podcast is about “Arulmigu Swetharanyeswarar Alayam,Thiruvenkadu The sthalam of Budan is Thiruvengadu, which is located 15kms from Sirgazhi enroute to Poompuhar. The name Thiruvenkadu, as also its Sanskritic equivalent Swetaranya, literally means ‘sacred white forest’. The place is differently known as Jnana-aranya, (forest of wisdom), Patala Kailas, Adi Chidambaram etc. The temple enshrines Lord Shiva - Swetaranyeswara - Thiru-ven-kaatu-eswara - and His consort Brahma Vidyanayaki.

it is said that the Lord performed seven of His dances - Tandavam - known as Ananda, Sandhya, Samhara, Tripuranta, Urdhva, Bhujanga and Lalita.
Those who visit Thiruvengadu will find relief from puthira dosham, poor studies, mental instability, nervous disorders. Knowledge, music, astrology, maths, sculpting, medicine, language skills are the beneficial aspects of Budan. The planetary diety Budha is propitiated increasing health and intelligence.
Apart from the presiding deity, the Lord is consecrated in His forms as Aghoramurthi and Nataraja. The Nataraja image bears the seven instruments and weapons - Vetalam, Khadgam, Udukku, Mani, Kedayam, Kapalam and Trisulam.

The shrine is associated with prominent devotees like Meikandar, Pattinathaar and Swetaketu. In fact, Pattinathaar had the childhood name of Thiruvenkadar.
Pattinathuadigal Thiruvengadar, the son of Sivanesan and Gnanambigai, with the blessings of a Siva Muni received Siva Ditchai and a Siva Linga and came to be called Pattinathu Adigal.

This week’s Podcast is about “Arulmigu Vaidhyanathar Alayam,Vaideeswaran Kovil" . Tirupulliruku Velur,Jatayu(Pul),Rigveda(Irukku),Muruga(Vel),Surya(Voor)-- popularly known as Vaitheeswaran Koil, is one of the most important shrines of Tanjore District. Situated on the northern side of the river Kaveri, Vaitheeswaran Koil is a railway station on the Madras-Mayavaram line.

This shrine is known under several names like lalayapuri, Vedapuri, Panarapuri, Pathiripuri, Angarakapuram and Ambikapuram.

The presiding deity, Sri Vaidyanathaswamy, is hailed as the healer of all ills. The Lord came here as a Vaidya and cured Angaraha of leprosy. Among the Navagrahas, Angaraha is worshipped here with great reverence. Hence this shrine is also known as Angaraha Kshetra.

Jatayu, Rig Veda, Muruga and Surya worshipped the Lord here. Muruga enshrined here is known as Selvamuttukumaraswami. At the dying request of Jatayu, Sri Rama brought his remains here and cremated them.All the Navagrahas are also here and among them Angaraka is worshipped with great reverence and thus this shrine is also known as Angaraka Kshetra.

A great feature in the temple construction, is the design and position of the western tower, which allows the rays of the Sun to fall on the Sivalinga for a few days every year. Vembadimal - Sthala vriksham is another important feature. This sacred temple tree has been existing since the Kritayugam and is called by various names. It was known as Kadamba in the Kritayugam; Bilva, during the Tretayugam, Vakula in the Dwaparayugam and Neem in the Kaliyugam.

Mars is a malefic. He rules over the two sidereal signs of Aries and Scorpio. He is exalted in Capricorn and fallen in the opposite sign of Cancer. Mars is often depicted as a god with a red body exemplifying the natural color of the astronomical body in the sky.

A prayer to this planet frees one from debts, poverty and illness afflicting the skin. This graha bestows property and conveyance (Locomotion). A prayer to Angaraka can restore loss of eyesight. Tuesdays are intended for the worship of Angaraka. If one observes the fast on Tuesday for 21 times, the unlucky influence of Tuesday (Mangal) can be got rid off.

Moon is called the Mother Planet, since it rules over moods of children, adult, and elderly.

If Moon's chart is found to be weak, then the person will tend to swing his decisions frequently as he/she is influenced by this planet.It is believed that if one visits this place and worships the Lord here, they will be rid of diseases.This Kshetra is closely associated with appodhi adigal and thirunavukarasu swamigal where Appar sang Thiruppadigam to bring back appodhi adiagal’s son’s life who was bitten by snake.

This week’s Podcast is about “Arulmigu SivaSuryanarayanamoorthy Alayam,Sooriyanarkovil ”. This temple is close to Aduthurai and 15 km from Kumbakonam.This temple is also situated 3 km west of kanchanur (where sukran sthalam is located).Bus facilities are available from kumbakonam,Aduthurai and mayiladuthurai.

Among the planets, Sun occupies the prime position. That is why the first day of the week is named Sunday. The seven planets including Saturn form the seven days of the week.

Suriyanar (Sun) Temple tower s 15.5 meter high. It has three tiers. At the top of the tower there are five kalasam. Outside the Rajagopuram (main tower) in the north side there is a holy tank called Surya Pushkarni where one should take a bath, and those who are not in a position to bath should sprinkle water on their head.

As you enter the Temple on the right side there is Kol Theertha Vinayakar (Ganesh) Sannidhi is there and in the northern corridor one will find Thejas Chandikeswarar Sannidhi.

Suryanar Koil is the only temple in the Dakshinapatha, exclusively dedicated to Sun god with Usha Devi and Pratyusha Devi --- his consorts along with the other eight grahas, each in a separate shrine around the main one.

After Surya Baghawan one should go to Sabanayakar Mandapam and offer prayers to Lord Nataraja, the Navagraha, and at Sthabana Mandapam worship Sri Kasi Viswanathar and Sri Visalakshi Ammai.

The main mandir enshrining the Sun God facing west is surrounded by separate shrines for Rahu, Ketu, Chandra, Angaraka, Budha, Sani, Sukra and Brihaspathi.
