Keeping Thiruvaiyaru as Lankmark,Among the sapthashana shalams,Thiruchottruthurai comes third.According to Legend, when the marriage of nandhi took place in Thirumazhapadi, All kinds of food were prepared and sent from here(again indicating the fertility).There are statues of Arulalar and his wife with "atchaya pathiram" in their hands where they served food to everyone (gods gift)
