Another famous story is, when Sage Thirugyanasambadar along with his disciples visted this place there was cyclone and he rowed the Boat without the Paddle by singing the verse "Kottamae Kamazhum" and by Gods Grace reached the other side of the bank and worshiped Villvavananathar, hence the name "Odampokiyaaru"

Lord also helped a pregnant women by bending down a cocunut tree to quench the thirst of that women,hence the name Kulaivangunathar. Arunagirinathar has also written 3 verses on Lord Muruga who is at the 2nd praharam of the temple.
